Busy month of May

Sorry there has been such a long delay since the last post. Our Buddy has been ill again and taking up most of my time. There have also been lots of appointments and not much time to post.
We got the resutls back from the CF test and they were negative.WONDERFUL news.

We saw the genetecist and she said that there is nothing more that she can do for Broc so we can take her off our list of specialists. She said that Broc is still a mystery and she would love to know when they figure him out.

We also saw the Immunologist Dr N and he never really had any definite answers for us either. He said that he is not sure why Broc gets low and high fevers randomly. He is really hoping that the Metabolic Specialist can come up with some answers for us all. He is going to continue to follow Brocs illnesses incase there maybe a pattern somwhere that he is missing. He said the only way to stop him from getting sick and having fevers is to keep him home and not go anywhere. We all know that is not possible. He needs to be in school to get the services that he will need.He will write a letter to the school to explain that he maybe away from school more than he is allowed.

Broc also saw Dr Z the G.I. Dr and he did recommend a KUB x-ray and an G.E. Reflux study. The x-ray showed us that his intestine is very full and its not empyting properly even though we think he does. The G.E. Reflux study was done at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.It was really nice to be so close to home for a procedure. Broc had to drink some apple juice with radio active dye in it and then lay flat on a table for an HOUR. Yes an hour.It was crazy.I did have an i-pad to play with for him so by the time the study was done I was a PRO at playing angry birds. His favorite game to play. Here are some pics of him laying under the camera.

He was so good lying under the camera.Once we were done we were given meal tickets to buy lunch and then after lunch they had to take more pictures of his belly to see where his food was and if he aspirated any of it.The good news is that his belly is emptying well so the meds that we have him on for that are working and he didn't aspirate any food into his lungs.
We are still not sure why he is still having a lot of pain when he is eating. Tonight for dinner he did eat a little better than he has in a while so we are hoping that his appetite will come back soon.

He had an OT (Occupational Therapy) evaluation this week too.He is very far ahead with his fine motor skills but is having a few issues with his gross motor skills. His therapist is recommending that he have an PT(Physical Therapy) evaluation as well.
We are still deciding on where to go from the stroller for him.He does have a ton of energy and bounce around 24/7 due to his ADHD but on the other hand due to his heart condition he does have very low endurance and tires very easily. He is now 50lbs and I am not able to carry him anymore. We are hoping that it will get a little better after his vascular surgery in June.We know that that issue is causing strain on his heart too.

May is a very busy month for us.Broc and I will be going to Houston for a long weekend to finish his chromosome study. Both the boys will be graduating.Mark from Kindergarten and Broc from Pre-school.Broc will be having a little ceremony so we will have lots of pics and possibly video to share later.Mark is also having an Olympics so I am hoping to attend that too.We have also had a wonderful C.O. visit. It has been really encouraging.

We have had some really nice weather the past few days.Today the boys and their friends enjoyed running in the sprinkler. Here are some pics to enjoy.

Our yard is really coming along so nicely and more trees have been planted. We cannot wait for them to grow bigger and flower.

In a past post I mentioned that some of our friends were having heart surgery.Well I am very happy to say that both surgeries were a success and both are recovering well.

Thank you again for all your prayers, kind words, love and support.

  2. Kerrigan - such a busy month! You described Amie in your paragraph about bouncing off the walls because of the hyper & no endurance and energy because of the heart! Have fun in Houston! Hope you get some answers soon!
