Awesome News !!!!!

Dr Eliason called me today. He sure knows how impatient a waiting moma is. Brocs artery is only 35% narrowed. We will watch and wait till 6 months and do another ultra sound to check the velocities again. If then its 50% or greater  then he will have the vein patch surgery. We are so happy and so is he.

Thank you again for all the support.

Angiogram Day - Update 3

We left the hospital around 5pm MI. Broc did really well with keeping fluids and food down so they let us go as soon as he was dressed. I was eager to get home before dark and we managed to do that. We stopped along the way for some dinner and a restroom break, other than that we drove straight home.

After a long day like that I am one EXHAUSTED moma. We will wait to here what the plan of action is. Broc will spend the day at home tom too except for one appointment. He is to rest as much as possible till Friday and then he can resume all his boy activities.

Thank you again for all the support, prayers and kind words. They really kept me going today. I will update when we have a plan and some dates too. We are hoping that it will be at a time that can accommodate all of us.

We do have to fit in a cardiac check -up in between this all to make sure that his heart is strong enough for another major surgery.

Angiogram Day - Update 2

Broc is in recovery now. I have not been back to see him. It will be about an hour before I can see him. I have had the consult with the doctor. They just did a diagnostic angiogram. They were not able to fix anything. They said that a stent is not possible as the narrowing is in the groin area. It is a true narrowing and not a flow issue as we were hoping for.

Dr Eliason will go over all the images this week with Dr Saad and they will come up with a plan. Broc will be having surgery to fix the narrowing. It is not critical so we will be able to plan for it which is always a plus.

Going back to see my baby now.

Angiogram Day- Update 1.

They have just started ( 8:45 MI) with Broc. The surgeon informed me this morning that this may be more than a plain angiogram. If they are able to balloon or stent the graft open today then they will do so.

This is a shock to me as it means a longer stay, a longer procedure and many possible complications. I have eaten breakfast and have coffee so I am set for a while.

We gave him versed before hand so he was really loopy. Actually almost asleep by the time they took him back.

They originally said 3 hours but now with all the new possibilities it may be longer.

Thank you for all the prayers and words of comfort that we have received.

I will be posting updates through out the day.

What an amazing weekend.

This past weekend we had our annual District Convention. It was entitled "Gods Word is Truth". We learned so much and were brought so much comfort especially during this time.

I am not going to say anything about the new releases as many in South Africa have not had there's yet I we don't want to spoil it for them. We will just say they are AWESOME.

We start our day off at the Train Diner. The boys love this place and this year they were old enough to reach the train button so they could push it everytime it stopped.

In the past you have seen me refer to this Convention as the "Dog Assembly". It is because there are statues of husky's and then boys are crazy over them. They are not allowed to touch them but can stand near them.

we took pics everyday as I love my little boys in suits. They look so handsome if I do say so myself. Daddy looks very handsome too.

We had an awesome weekend with a few thousand smiling faces.

On a little side note : Brocs angiogram is scheduled for Monday 26 August. I am not sure on any times yet but will post through out the day to keep you all updated.
Thank you for your many prayers and loving support.

What a day.................. 1 year follow up

Today was Broc's 1 year follow up for his ilio-femoral bypass surgery. We had really good spirits going into the appointment as he has not had any major effects. His pulse in his groin is amazing compared to before  surgery. His muscle mass has grown a lot too and his strength is coming back nicely too. He is able to ride his bike very well still with training wheels.

It was torrential downpour all the way to MI. I could hardly see the car in front of me. It was a very slow drive in but we made it in time.

We first had bone x-rays at the Children's Hospital then we went and had ultrasounds and ABI's done at the Cardiovascular Unit.

Look at that beefy looking right leg compared to what his leg looked like last year.

The boys love the long hallway with all the new arts and crafts. Here are 2 of the boys favorites.

Onto the not so fantastic news.....
Dr E said that his ABI's looked great. In fact they are almost the same as they were in Feb, maybe slightly higher on the left which could attribute to his leg. He showed me pics of his artery and so far so good until he came to one spot and showed me the narrowing. Because of his scarring on the outside of his leg his scarring has also formed on the inside and almost cut off 50% of his artery.
So the bad news is he has possibly more than a 50% blockage in his new artery. So he is being scheduled for an angiogram asap. If it truly is a blockage and not just a flow issue then Broc will have to undergo another surgery where they will take a vein from his left leg and put in whats called a diamond patch to repair the graft. They want to act quickly as he has grown well with his new artery and his muscle mass is also doing well. If we were to loose the graft altogether then we would have to start with artificial grafts that do not grow with a person. We were told this could happen but it was very rare. OF course as we all know anything that falls into the "rare" category happens to Broc.

His legs are also still 1cm apart which attributes to his leg aches and overall pain sometimes as his whole alignment is off.

We had a snack in the indoor garden before we left for our long drive home. It was very peaceful there listening to the waterfall.

We always have to take a pic with Big Bird before we leave the Children's Hospital.  We drove home in the torrential rain too but thankfully it stopped after a while. Unfortunately there was a bad accident and the highway was closed for 3 exits. So we sat on the highway for at least 40 minutes not going anywhere.......

The boys did sleep for a while and then woke up cause we had stopped. I will keep you all up to date as things happen. Thank you for all the kind words and prayers for today.
