Day 3 in the hospital

It is Saturday and we are still here.Broc is eating a little more but still not drinking all that much.He is still very tired. He takes 2 sometimes 3 naps a day.Almost like a baby would.I asked him today if he wants to get out of bed and play for a bit.He said no thanks I am too tired. He just lays in the bed reading stories or watching Monster Jam on my phone.Thank goodness for I phones.
His WBC is up to 1.9 but his neutrophil count is only 20% so his ANC level is down to 386.Once again below 500.His Ped thinks maybe Tuesday but doesn't want us to get our hopes up.It can be very dangerous if he were to catch another infection or virus while his counts are so low.

We thank you again for all the prayers and words of comfort.

Broc is in the hospital

Not sure how much you all know, but Broc is in the hospital. He started with a fever on Tuesday afternoon.By the evening it was 103F.We took him to the Ped and he was dx with Strep throat.Later that night his fever spiked again to 103.7F.We called the Ped again and said to give the meds time to work.During the day Broc got worse and worse. He was not eating or drinking only laying on the couch.By late Wed afternoon his temp.was 104.1F.
The Ped told us to have blood work done and take him back home.We got the call to say that his WBC was really and his ANC level was 800.His ANC level should be 1500.1500-1000 is mild.1000-500 is moderate and 500 below is severe range. His Ped contacted his ID Dr at Riley and he said that he has a virus on top of the strep. He admitted him to have iv meds and fluids.
Broc was so dehydrated they couldn't find a vein for his iv.He has been having fevers on and off since he has been here.
Yesterday his WBC was still low but his ANC level dropped to 380.It was decided that no children see him or anyone that has been in contact with anyone ill.
They are still giving him iv fluids and 2 iv antibiotics.
He just had more labs drawn to see where his levels are.
I will post again when we have more news.
Thankyou for all the prayers and kind words and phone calls.

District Convention -2011 and Dr's

We had a wonderful convention this past weekend. We also met a lovely family with two adorable little children.Zander and Abigail. We found out that Abby also has a CHD.Broc and Abby became really good friennds. Mark and I are so pleased to have found a family that we can relate too and they understand all that we are going through and will go through.

All the pics that we took are a little fuzzy as they children have so much energy after sitting for such a long time. I also took a  pic of Dayla. She is the little girl that I used to babysit since she was a newborn. She has a really special place in our hearts. She has grown up so much since we saw her last.

With their being 5000 + people there, there are bound to be a germ or too.As it happened Broc woke up Tuesday morning with a slight temp which jumped to 103F by the afternoon. We took him to the dr who thought maybe a blood infection , but thankfully he did a strep test and it came back positive for strep throat.Handling a strep throat infection is so much easier than a blood infection.
He is currently on antibiotics and hopefully will be on the mend soon.

Little Mark went to see the Ortho Dr on Monday as his bump on his knee has come back.He said that there is fluid in his knee again. GREAT!! So he is on Motrin for 2 weeks to see if it goes down again. Hoping it does.

Please enjoy the pics.

So tired after a long day..........................

Our little family.Would be nice if Broc could sit still for a second.
 Lots and lots of people.
Broc and his new heart buddy,Abby.
Lots of energy during lunch break.
Zander,Abby, their daddy and the boys during lunch.

New additions to our yard

This week was a big week for the Davis Family. As you know it was our Anniversary and some gifts came a little later than expected.

Daddy's shed arrived as well as the boys playground. We also put up a hummingbird feeder. We are pleased to say that we had our first hummingbird yesterday. As you know they are extremely fast and we were not able to take a pic,one of these days we will. Please enjoy the video and pics.

We also had an interesting trip to the grocery store yesterday.I had a trolley full of groceries when I bought ant spray.I handed it to Broc to put in the trolley. Before he put it in the trolley he decided to inspect the insects on the can and without knowing he pushed the trigger.Needless to say he sprayed ant killer in his face and eyes.

Oh My Word!!!! Panic stations.I dropped the trolley ran to the water fountain and started throwing water on his face and in his eyes to flush them.He screamed so loud the whole of Kroger heard him.The manager and the lady from the pharmacy came running to see what was happening. They told me to take him straight to the peds office. They said they would keep my trolley for me and off we went.

At the peds office they inspected his eyes and brought in the vials of saline solution. It took 3 of us to hold Broc down so that the dr could flush his eyes with saline solution.Poor Mark was hiding under the table cause Broc screamed so loud.I felt awful.
We have been told to look for upper resp signs and to bring him in immediately as the spray could have gone to his mucus linings in his nose. What a DAY!!!

Our Anniversary - 12 July 2011 and our brave big boy.

Many things are happening and have happened.Daddy Mark is just started on a new job and will be there for a while. His hours are great for the first few weeks as he gets to spend more time with the family. As the job moves along he will have longer hours.
We celebrated our 8th Wedding Anniversary this week.We cannot believe all the things we have gone through as a couple/family in such a short time.We want to thank all the family and friends that have helped and supported us in so many ways.We really appreciate your kindness.

In the last mail I wrote that Broc was having some urology issues, well today he had his appointment and to my shock he had his procedure done in the office. It was over in about 5 seconds and hopefully it will give him some relief once all has healed. We are so happy to have avoided the hospital,O.R. and Mark taking the day off work.

Tomorrow the boys big present arrives as well as daddy's shed.We are really excited.I will post lots of pics on the blog as well as pics and video of the boys opening their presents.

We got the letter in the mail today to let us know when Brocs CT Scan will be for his legs.It has been moved to Oct instead of Nov so that they can keep a closer eye on him.

Our yard is coming along very nicely. It just needs a lot of watering. We have not had a chance to plant any flowers. There is always next year for that, unless we get some in before it starts to get too cold.

Little Mark will be starting Kindergarten in 1 month. My baby is really growing up fast.Poor guy will be gone the whole day.

We also learned that Little Mark has the same Duplication Syndrome as Broc and I do.

This was mommy's present from daddy.Something I always wanted since I was a little girl.

Mommy's roses on the first day.
Daddy's mini rose bush which we will plant in the garden.

The boys and I wrote to daddy on the driveway so he would see it as he drove up.
Mommy's roses 2 days later.Today they are even bigger.

Little Mark and his new best friend,Taigo. Mark has overcome so many fears. He is doing so well around animals now.It has made life a little easier for us too.

As soon as the play ground and the shed arrive. We will take pics. They are going to assemble it so we will have many pics for you all to see.

A day at the Zoo

We gave the boys the opportunity to choose where they wanted to go.Both chose the zoo. They love animals. We were wanting to go to the one closest to home as daddy had to work the next day but they chose the one about an hour away.It has a lot more animals to see.

We also have a wagon for them to sit in instead of the double stroller. It worked out really well as they both took turns pulling each other in it.Sometime both of them walked and then it was easy to pull it.

Here a some fun pics of the day.

The boys loved feeding the fish.

Broc thought they had put the bench there just for him to rest on.It was so cute when he found it.He said look mom this is just for us.

It was such a great day.Very sunny with a slight breeze.
Hope you all enjoyed the pics.
