Harlem Globetrotters you made our night

If any of you know the boys well they are crazy Basketball fans. For the longest time they have been watching you tube videos of the Harlem Globetrotters. When Daddy Mark was in the hospital last month we had a little time to talk and new they were coming to town.

We decided to surprise the boys with tickets last night. We know that planning something like this is very tricky as Brocs health has not been the greatest and he tires so easily nowadays. We also had to take the chance of him getting ill and being in the hospital and us gifting the tickets to someone else. Thankfully Broc has stayed relatively well and we were able to make it happen last night.

Driving there the boys had no idea until we parked and Lil Mark whispered it to me and I said yes but we still kept it from Broc. He about blew up once he got inside knowing where we were going. The biggest smile on his face and the squeals of excitement were so worth the crazy snowy drive there and back.

We did sit in handicap seating which is unfortunately not near the players at all but nevertheless we enjoyed the show. To hear the boys scream and shout and squeal with laughter was priceless. Daddy and I enjoyed ourselves too.

Once the game was over everyone was invited to come down and see the players and get a ball signed if you were chosen to come under the yellow rope. So I thought well we will go down and maybe Lil Mark can stand in the forever line and hopefully get his ball signed by one player. Off we went to stand in the line. I said to Mark lets get a little closer so I can at least take a pic of one of one of the players close up. A man taps Daddy Mark on the shoulder and says come with me. We are escorted onto the court under the yellow rope and taken to one of the players to meet them and have Marks ball signed and take a pic. It was so amazing how they took time out to speak to Broc and Mark and shake our hands and take a pic. I was over the moon for the boys and though wow this is so cool, we have one players signature. I would have been fine with that, that's really all we wanted. NOPE we get escorted to the next player and the next and the next until we had Lil Marks ball signed by all the players and got our picture taken with them all.

WOW. Notre Dame Stadium Staff  and Harlem Globetrotters went above and beyond for 2 boys to make a surprise night even more special. Thank you so much for you kindness and patience. It was a night our family will never forget.

Thank you everyone for an amazing night that the boys will never forget.

A family update

Wow. I cannot believe it has been 2.5 months since I last posted. A lot has surely happened in those 2.5 months.
I did end up having surgery to repair the tendons in my elbow. They said it was one of the worst repairs they have seen is a long time. It was so severe that I ended up getting an anchor put in that will grow onto my bone. My restrictions have been very limiting and hard to deal with, especially not being able to drive for almost 6 weeks. With Broc and myself having so many appointments we had to rely on friends to get us places. Thankfully the friends were very helpful in that regard. I had to have more procedures myself which made things difficult too but we got though it all.

In the beginning of November we had a care conference with all the members of  Brocs team. I'm so happy we had that meeting. We learned a lot about Broc and all his team members had a chance to weigh in on what they thought would and wouldn't be beneficial for him. Some medications were held and some were added in. We were told about a study at the NIH which we will look into. Having a new set of eyes on Broc could always be helpful. Little did we know that we would loose a vital member of his team a couple weeks later. We have since been given a new Dr and will be meeting her at the end of February. Broc spent a week in La Porte Hospital for a virus and neutropenia. It was a rough week for everyone but we made it through. Thank you to all the friends that came to visit and support us.

Little Mark has started guitar lessons and loves it. He has wanted to play for a couple years now but I was always worried about him not making his lessons if Broc was in the hospital. Thankfully a dear friend of mine was able to speak with the teacher and they came up with a good plan for us.

Daddy unfortunately had to have emergency surgery for his kidney stones but is recovering well. Little Mark was the only one to stay out of the hospital last year. YAY Mark!!

We have been passing the time by playing lots of board games and video games. The boys love the dancing games. Especially when they have friends over.
We have had a really mild Winter so far which we are loving as the freezing cold temps cause us a lot of pain but we have had some snow fall. It looks so pretty on the trees.

Broc doesn't have any planned appointments this month, so we are hoping for a quiet month. He is still struggling with his viral episodes that he deals with. Hopefully he will be getting an iron infusion soon too.

I hope to update more frequently on here too. He does have a facebook page called Brocs Journey if you would like to follow him there too. Just ask to join or send me a pm and I will add you.

We have some exciting things happening this year.

Thank you for all the continued love and support.
