Brocs CT Scan

So sorry this post is not as early as many of you expected.Today was really draining both physically and emotionally.
The CT Scan itself was great. They gave us the option of not putting him under and we decided to try.Broc was such a trooper. He layed really still and played with a textured ball that the child life specialist gave him.

Once we left the CT we headed over to see if Dr E could see us earlier. We no sooner sat down when they called us back.Dr E didn't have very good news for us.He said that there is now 1cm difference between his legs.He said that once it gets past 2cm then he will not get the lost growth back so we have to act soon.
He really doesn't like the diff. to go past 1.5cm so we are left with the delema of when to do surgery.
His nurse walked in and said we have booked him for Nov 28th. Mark and I looked at each other in silence and both said thats too soon.We calmly explained that we have many things to organize before Broc has the surgery. We want to have it at a time when Mark has a school break and also a time when my parents can come up to see us if they can.
We have asked him if we could compromise so we are doing another CT Scan in Jan to check the length. If it its getting close to being 1.5cm then we are looking at surgery right then.If not then we are hoping to do surgery in April.

Once we left his office he sent us over to u/s.They did what is called a vein mapping study on Brocs legs. They looked at his veins and measured to see if there were any viable to use as grafts for his surgery. They found that the veins in his right leg are almost adult sized. That is great that he has such big veins and too that they are on the right leg which means that he will not have any incisions on his left leg.

Dr E was very kind to draw us a picture of what it will look like and gave us an explanation but I will leave that for another post.
We really appreciate all the friends and family that helped us out this weekend and the kind dear family that gave us there house to stay in.We also appreciate all the prayers and kind words from all the friends.

  1. Thanks for the update. We can see you have a strength deep inside because of being close to Jehovah. He did say that He'll keep fast hold of you with His right hand. Just keep holding that hand and He'll make your paths straight as you've experienced many times in the past.
    Much love from us.
