Blood test results and the next steps.

So we got all the immunoglobulins and antibodies back and they are all normal.Which means that his body is able to fight what ever is thrown at him.Which is very good news.

Anyway, last weekend he was sneezing a lot and starting to sound sick/nasal.By Monday he was really crabby and had a low fever.I called Dr H -immuno and he said to start Omnicef for 14 days.Thankgoodness we did cause Wednesday his fever started to climb.
I think he wants to kill any infection before it has a chance to start.I am just so worried that Broc will be on an antibiotic all the time but as he said I guess its better than him being in the hospital. I just don't know how the antibiotic will work for the viruses with high fever that he gets.

So Dr H called me yesterday - Sunday.I was so impressed that he would call me on a Sunday.Anyway he said that all his panel tests have come back normal which is very good so we are positive that his immune system is able to fight when it has to.The only thing concerning him is his WBC which is on the low side.
He wants Broc to finish the the 14 day course of antibiotics. And then take another 14 days to make sure that he is totally clear. If he gets sick during that time then we are to stop the antibiotics and continue the course once the viral illness is over.
Once the whole course of antibiotics are completed he will then do a CT Scan of his sinuses to see if the meds have worked and what we are working with.
He is still not convinced that Broc doesn't have cyclic neutropenia so we will go ahead with that testing later on down the road too.The testing we did earlier for that was not accurate. The fact that his WBC bottoms out when he does get very ill is concerning to him.
If indeed the sinuses are not the problem then he will continue to find a solution for Broc.He feels that Broc has been much too sick for a 4 year old little boy.He does not agree that we should buy the virus theory everytime he is sick.He also said that the rule that kids get 7-10 colds/viruses a year or Winter does not apply to him at all.He said that we need to protect Broc at all times. When he goes to places where there are a lot of people. He needs to wear a mask and use hand sanitizer at all times.

We will be heading to MOTTS next week for the CT Scan of his legs.A lot of decisions will be made.We will see how big the discrepancy is between his right and left leg.If the discrepancy is very big then we are possibly looking at bypass surgery at the end of the year. If there is only a little bit of a discrepancy then we will take a wait and see approach.

I will be posting the day of the CT Scan and let you all know how it goes and what the results will be if we have any.Broc will be having general anesthesia for this procedure so that they can get very accurate readings.

I will leave you with some pics of Broc trying out some rider mowers at Sears last night.

The boys loves to sit on these while we are shopping.
