A friend like you.- Broc dancing is heart out!!

I sent this video to all the friends and family but wanted to share this on Broc's blog too.I think it really discribes his personality. How joyful and friendly he is.And of course very energetic. Please enjoy.

This is how we love to see him.

A great appointment with Immuno/Allergy Dr.

Broc went to see the immuno / allergy Dr yesterday.
He was so wonderful. He listened to me tell him Broc's entire history which he cannot belive he has been through so much.He thanked me so much for keeping the diaries. They were very helpful in knowing when he had infections, antibiotics, viruses, fever etc.
He said that Broc has chronic sinus issues.No-one has ever told me that. Not even the ENT that we see.Anyway he said that his sinus's are the main reason why he keeps getting infections. He keeps re-infecting himself. Then when he does get an infection it is not treated long enough he gets sick again. It all makes so much sense.
So we have things to treat the sinus issues. Then he ordered a huge amount of blood.Poor guy was very concerened at the size of the syringe that they used.He tested all his immunoglobulins and B and T cells and many anti-bodies.
He is not sure why Broc gets a fever everytime he gets a shot or the flu shot for that matter. He is also not sure why his nuetrophil count drops so much when he gets ill.He is also not sure why he gets the high fevers like he does.He also said that he is not convinced that he doesn't have cyclic nuetropenia. He is also not sure why his body never made any antibodies to strep as he has had it so many times.
He said that some of the blood work will give us some answers and that we may have to do more tests to find other answers.
He also gave me prednisone and antibiotics on file at the drug store to have when he got sick so that we can treat him aggressively so that his episodes wont last 2 -3 weeks maybe only 3-4 days.
All in all I was very happy that we finally might be on the road to finding some more answers. He did say that there maybe some things that we find out that may not be so good. If that is the case we will just roll with the punches as we always do.
On a positive note he did some allergy testing to common things like dust, animals, mold things like that and it all came back negative.
We should be getting the answers to all the blood work next week.

Our Annual Congregation Picnic and a cookie contest.

Last weekend we had our annual congregation picnic. The boys had so much fun playing and singing songs with the guitar. The highlight was the cookie contest.Rylee and Linda won.My cookies were runners up. I made custard cookies from South Africa. They were so YUMMY.The boys were very upset that there were none left to take home.
Please enjoy some pics of the day.

Vicki and Hannah cutting the cake they made.

 Testing YUMMY cookies.

Everyone had  a great time.

A Trip to Indy with some fun.

Last week Mark had to see the Ortho. Dr about his knee. They came to the conclusion that when he fell in June he tore a tendon and it is leaking some fluid into his knee.Thankfully it will heal over time.

While we were there I decided to take the boys to the Children's Museum for a little fun.The man was very kind enough to turn the sounds off so the boys could enjoy the dinosaur exhibit.

We will go back one day when we have a whole day to explore.Unfortunately the frog exhibit opened once we had left so we have to take them back to see that.
Here are some pics of the fun things we saw.

WOW!!! Look how big Bumble Bee is???

 Racing at the Indy 500.
Having fun at the Train table.
Pretending to be dinosaurs.Mark always wants to be T-Rex.
And there he is Mr T-Rex himself. Mark loved looking at him.

All about teeth.....

Broc had his teeth cleaned again, his least favorite thing to do. We went to a different dentist so it was all very new to him.We don't have dental insurance so we had to find a dentist that we could afford.

They did x-rays which he was fine with and then it was time to lay on the chair. When he walked in and saw that he had his own TV screen with Nick Jnr on he was set.Except when she turned on the bright light. We soon had that fixed with a cool pair of sun glasses.

He was not too sure about the actual cleaning. The hygenist thought that since he was a kid he wanted a fruit flavored tooth paste but not him he wanted the mint one.
After about 1/2 hour we were done.We also saw on the x-ray that his 5 year molars are waiting to come down.

We also had a very interesting dinner last night.Little Mark lost his first tooth while eating corn.He was very shocked at the fact that it came out while he was eating. He also does not like the fact that he has a hole in his mouth now. There is a new tooth waiting in the background but it is behind the other tooth that is loose too.So he will have a gap for a while.

Bikes,Graduations and the first weeks of school

I have been a bit slack with writing. Many things have been keeping me busy.Broc continues to have a low grade fever with viral illnesses one after the other.I would love an explanation for that.

Then HOMEWORK..... Who would have thought that a Kindergartener would have homework.15-30 minutes mind you which is so much fun when you have just been sitting on a bus for an hour in the baking sun with no air conditioner.

Homework for Mark is really posing a challenge for me.He has to have a snack and drink the minute he gets off the bus and then jump on the trampoline or ride his bike or something to unwind himself from the day.By the time he is done with that its almost time for me to start making dinner. So scheduling for me has become a must.

Bedtime has also moved up as he is so tired by the evening the poor guy is begging to go to bed.
All in all he is having a few issues at school with letters and learning but we are working through them.We don't need him to become a rocket scientist as this school wants all their students to be, for now I think he should enjoy school and learning. His highlight of the week is music class. He loves his music. The cherry on top is when the teacher is ill or she needs more time and then they are given 3 recesses.
He has come home every day with a PINK slip in his backpack - no he never got fired , he made good choices at school and had good behavior. We are very proud of him.

Onto the bikes. The boys have been asking us for BMX bikes for a long time now.We decided on labor day to go shopping for bikes. We had already seen what we wanted so it was a matter of choosing colors and paying for them and then of course buying all the extras - helmets, training wheels etc.
Here are some pics and video. Please enjoy them.

This one was taken in the store.

The next few pics were taken at Brae's graduation last weekend. There were lots of friends and family there.Uncle Mike was entertaining all the kids with HUGE bubbles that he was making.
Bentley(our grandson) was showing us how well he can stand on his own.
Of course we couldn't forget the famous five. Our kids hadn't seen each other since the beginning of the year. They really miss playing with each other.

Sometimes cell phone pics are not the greatest but when its all you have to capture the moment you have to use them.

Broc also had the last of his 6 week testing this week and it was determined that he does not have cyclic neutropenia.I guess we all kind of new that  but all the drs wanted to rule it out. However his WBC is on the low end of normal but not dangerous.
His ped thinks he needs to be in pre-school so that he can be exposed to all the germs.I thought we needed to keep him away from all the germs.I really don't understand it all.He said that if he is exposed then he will be able to fight them off more easily.Doesn't the fact that Mark bring them home from school expose him enough?? Not to mention the fact that we cannot afford pre-school for him.I am teaching him at home and he is doing very well.

We are seeing the immunologist on the 22 Sep and I am really hoping that he can shed some light for us.
