Since the weekend Broc was having a lot of pain again in his abdomen. I hate to say belly cause its really not his belly its his intestines where the pain is. We lowered his feed rate Tuesday afternoon to see if that would help. By Wednesday morning 4am poor guy was in so much pain we had to stop his feeds altogether. I decided to wait until we spoke to his GI to find out what the next was. Unfortunately Broc took a turn for the worse really fast and his blood sugar went up so we had to hook up IV fluids.
We finally heard back from the GI and he sent us to the hospital for lab work. Brocs labs said that he was very dehydrated and had a viral infection. Lesson learned never let Broc go without any IV fluids at all. He had us all worried on Wed morning.
We tried to hook up boost on Wed late in the evening and by Thursday morning his pain was back so we had to switch off his feeds and hook up IV fluids again. We have spoken to his GI and infusion company about organizing TPN for him this weekend if he still cannot tolerate any feeds.
We are hoping he can have just a little to give him the energy he needs to get through his procedures on Monday. Broc will be having a bone marrow biopsy as well as a new GJ tube placed.
Please pray for safe procedures and minimal pain for Broc and no complications. We are hoping to come home Monday night but with Broc nothing is ever guaranteed.
